From bestselling authors in the Amish genre come three sweet stories centered around Amish traditions and the possibility of romance.

Building a Dream by Amy Clipston

Though they've known each other a long time, Kathryn and Anthony have finally decided to try becoming more than friendsâ??but they are devastated when Kathryn's father won't allow them to date. He wants his daughter to marry a man with a more respectable job than building gazebos for Englishers. But when Kathryn's father's dairy barn burns down during a thunderstorm, Anthony is the one to arrange a barn raising. Will Kathryn's father realize he has misjudged Anthony?

To Raise a Home by Kelly Irvin

A year after the wildfires, life has returned to normal for the West Kootenai Amish community. Evan Eicher, son of Deacon Tobias Eicher, has done his best to move on too. Helping his neighbors and friends rebuild has helped soothe a heart broken when Delilah Mastâ??the woman he loves but never had the courage to approachâ??moved with her family back to Kansas. At his father's urging he courts Anna Burkholder, a sweet woman who adores him. But when Delilah moves back to teach school, Evan must wrestle with feelings he's tried so hard to put in the past. And an accident at a barn raising will force Anna, Delilah, and Evan to face the truth about their hearts.

Love's Solid Foundation by Kathleen Fuller

Devon Bontrager only returned to his old hometown to make good on a past misdeed. He hadn't counted on reconnecting with Nettie Yoder, especially since she strung along his younger twin brothers some years ago. Nettie knows she's made some mistakes in the past, but she's determined to be an asset to her community from now on. But just as she's making headway, her family's barn burns to the ground. Why does it seem like God is punishing her family when she's finally starting to turn her life around? Can she convince Devon that she has changed? Can Devon trust the woman who broke his brothers' hearts?

These three stories have the common thread of a barn raising to tie them together in the collection. The novellas are short, and perhaps that length constrains the authors. To me, the characters lacked depth and development, and the plots were simplistic. I have liked full-length novels written by all three of these authors, so I know they can write realistic and enjoyable Amish fiction! But this collection, though entertaining, didn’t quite hit the mark for me. ( )

This book contains three stories by experienced authors of Amish fiction. Barn-raisings are prominent parts of the stories, and serve as events that prompt the characters to new understandings of themselves and others. Each story contains romantic aspects as well, although the growth of the characters takes center stage in each one. Issues of pride, focus on oneself, and atonement for past unkindness provide a common theme throughout the stories. Each story is set in a different location and features a different Amish community. Readers who regularly follow these authors will enjoy reconnecting with familiar characters or families. Each story can be read as a stand-alone. The Christian message is overt but not preachy. These are clean stories with no graphic language, violence, or intimacy.

I received this book from the publisher and from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own. ( )

The three novellas in this collection are written by different authors but they all share the common themes of barn raisings, Amish living, and of course, romance! Authors Amy Clipston, Kelly Irvin, and Kathleen Fuller share sweet stories of love in various stages, and each novella leaves a lasting impression. You will laugh, you may cry, but you'll certainly sigh over the strong romantic feelings that they create. There are also thought-provoking incidents that remind us of the deep faith that is prevalent in the Amish culture.

Reading a story by any of these authors is a treat in itself, but having all three in the same collection is fantastic! I recommend An Amish Barn Raising to fans of Amish fiction and Christian fiction.

I received a copy of this book from the author but there was no obligation to post a favorable review. These are my own thoughts. ( )

An Amish Barn Raising by Amy Clipston, Kelly Irvin, and Kathleen Fuller contains three heartwarming tales. I enjoyed reading all three of these charming stories. I thought they were well-written with sweet characters and good life lessons. I liked that we got the stories of characters that we had met in series by these authors. I especially liked finding out what happened to Nettie Miller. Each of these novellas can be read as a standalone (in case you have not read the series they relate to). These three sweet tales were quick reads. Forgiveness, having faith, second chances, and relying on God are the central themes. I especially liked learning that it is never too late to change. We just need to trust God. I like how the three books each tied into the barn raising theme as well. It is nice to read such relaxing, heartening stories. An Amish Barn Raising contains three engaging Amish tales with a caring carpenter, burning barns, romantic buggy rides, teaching troubles, faithful hearts, a crotchety curmudgeon, and a giving God. This is one of my favorite set of three Amish romances that I have read in a while. Each story is well written and very sweet. I read these very quickly. I love each of these authors. Each story has a very good lesson learned by many characters. These are all very emotional. I laughed and cried throughout these stories. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will. ( )
