The day I was drafted into the army of the gods, all I knew about being a MASH surgeon was what I d learned from Hawkeye Pierce and Hot Lips Houlihan. Now here I am, Dr. Petra Robichaud, in the middle of an immortal war, assigned to a MASH camp with a nosy sphinx, a vegetarian werewolf, and an uptight vampire who really needs to get a life. At least they re all too busy with their own dramas to discover my secret: I can see the dead. It s a forbidden gift, one that can get me killed, so I haven t told a soul. Until the arrestingly intense Galen arrives on my operating table, half-dead and totally to-die-for. When his spirit tries to slip out of his fatally wounded body, I impulsively slip it back in. Call it a rash resurrection. One I ll live to regret. Now Commander Galen of Delphi knows my secret, and he s convinced I m part of an ancient prophecy one that can end the war for good. But taking a chance could cost me everything. And it would be easier to convince him to leave me alone, except now the prophecies are starting to come true … (más)

Why does it always have to be an effin prophecy?
Prophecies are one of the worst plot devices or even story motivations in 99% of cases.
The rest of the book is fine really. The romance takes over the book a little too much and is too fluffy considering the circumstances.
Beyond that, there are quite a few very well-done parts.
But the whole prophecy thing makes zero sense and is just paradoxical.
To any somewhat experienced reader, it is incredibly obvious how the whole thing will work out which also makes it a really bad tool for tension.
At 80% of the book, I was really only waiting for all the stuff I already knew would happen to play out. It's just not interesting which makes it a bad ending.

*A Thank you the NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this book. This is my honest and unbiased review*

Hello Fellow Readers,

I’m a big fan of Fox Southern Spirits Mystery series so when I saw this book I had to jump at the chance to read it. A MASH monster story sounded pretty amazing (I’m also a big fan of the series) Unfortunately, I just couldn’t connect with the characters, which caused me not to really care all that much about the plot. Despite this Fox’s writing is still really good, but it’s missing a little of the charm that made me fall in love with we other series

Overall, not my cup of tea ( )

I read the original books in this series and this is a re-release with some revisions. In this first book there is a war between the old gods and new gods. Petra is a doctor in limbo in one of the MASH units for the new gods. She also has a hidden ability that could bring peace and could also get her killed if anyone finds out. Galen is a demigod and soldier and Petra's patient. Together they work to find a way to end the war. I like the variety of supernaturals - werewolves, fae, vampires, imps and more. I think Galen and Petra will develop into a good love story.
Some things that happen remind me of the TV show MASH. The way they all try to outdo each other to win the bet on who can prank the head of the MASH unit made me laugh. There's even a "Father Mulcahy" in the story along the lines of the TV show Mash.
Overall I enjoyed the revisions made to this book from the original version and look forward to reading the next book in the series. ( )

Gods are at war separated into old and new Gods. Petra was conscripted to work in mobile medical unit in Limbo. Petra and the other people were targeted because of special powers and qualities. Being immortal in an endless war was not fun especially when the flow of causalities outpaces the hours in the day. This novel follows Petra through her encounters with the Gods until she meets Galen. Prophecies link Galen and Petra together and the novel shows the impact of this and other relationships on the war. A lighthearted approach to romantic comedy draws the audience in to keep turning the page. This was an interesting and entertaining book. I received an ARC. I would highly recommend this book. ( )

Oh, I had a lot of fun with this book! I jumped at the opportunity to read this book because the description sounded like something I would really enjoy. I have read a couple of books written by Angie Fox and knew that I like her style of writing so I felt like this book would be a good bet. It was so easy to slip into this book's world and I couldn't wait to see how things would work out.

Petra is a physician working in a MASH unit that is in place to treat injuries in the never ending war between the gods. She has been drafted to serve for the rest of her life or until either the war ends (which it probably won't). Everyone thinks that she is just a regular mortal but she has one little secret, she can see the dead. She saves the life of a demigod on her table who learns her secret and her life suddenly changes.

I really liked the characters in this book. Petra was a strong woman who worked really hard to do whatever good she could in the world. Galen was awesome. He seemed to take everything in stride but was always there ready to save the day when he was needed. Rodger just wanted to be able to be back with his family but was a good friend to Petra. Petra was not eager to jump into a relationship with Galen so it was fun to see how things ended up developing between the pair.

I think that this book was very well written. I really liked the fact that there was a good dose of humor sprinkled throughout the book. I loved the banter between the characters and thought that it added to the appeal of the story. There was a great balance of excitement, romance, and humor throughout the book and the pacing was very well done. This was a book that was very easy to read for hours at a time.

I would recommend this book to others. I thought that this was a fun story that kicks off a promising series that I look forward to reading more of in the near future.

I received a digital review copy of this book from Moose Island Books via NetGalley. ( )
