Sadness is an emotion, that is very hard to understand, especially in childhood. The boy is very sad and isn’t really sure what to do. Not even presents or ice cream will cheer him up. He then sees a counselor and the author described a counselor role in kid approved age, regarding what they do and try to help him figure out how to solve his problem of being sad. He learns coping skills that will last him a lifetime!

As a mom to an 8yo Autistic son, this is a great book that shows coping skills in action! And it helps him figure out what he can do when feeling sad.

At the end of the book, it gives parents wise advice and a short training on how to help your kids through these rough emotions. Plus it provides an entire page dedicated to AMAZING highly qualified websites, so you can gather more information.

Thank you #BookSirens for this ARC to exchange for my honest opinion.

Summary: This story is about a boy who is very sad and what he does when he feels sad. This story follows his journey to know how to feel those emotions and what is best to do when he feels sad. It is a lovely ending with the techniques he does to prevent his sadness.
Reflection: I enjoyed how this story talks about depression and what techniques you can do to cope with depression. It is a really good book for explaining depression to young children. I like it and want to include it in my classroom. ( )

This book explains the different ways a child expresses himself when he is sad, but with the help of a counselor who teaches him other ways he can express that feeling, in ways that can improve his mood, making him understand that what he feels is not wrong. A nice way to teach children to identify sadness in its various expressions and make them understand that it is okay to feel sad and express it. I think that is is important for students to learn that when they feel sad it is good for them to talk to someone that will support them whenever they feel blue. I loved that at the end of the book the author provides information about how to help children with depression. As teachers it is important to be informed about the symptoms a student could have so that we can help them and support within our possibilities. This book teaches the importance of mental health. This is such a great book! I love that it not only describes what it feels like to be sad but it also incorporates ways to cope with sadness. I think this is a great book to reach to children so that they learn that it's ok to feel sad and so that they can learn about ways of coping with sadness.
