Amaya Roberts in the last book is stroppy and a 'bitch'. But in this book we see why she behaves as she does. Her story is heart breaking. I loved her she is sassy and strong but also vulnerable.
She learns about herself through the saintly patient Oliver, he tries to help her and at times is exasperated but keeps trying as he is a rule keeper and believes in the Unit.
The only thing that bothered me, (other than the frequency of showers(see my review for book 1)) was she has terrible emotional problems along with dreadful nightmares and Oliver helps her with those, but at times he gets called back to the Unit (i don't want to explain what i mean by called back not to spoil anything) when this happens she is left to fend for herself, sometimes for 10 days or longer, during that time she struggles to function, not eating properly, this is show upon her physically, she is thinner and shows signs of lack of sleep. I just wondered why no-one thought Oliver should not leave her especially for so long.
I felt it was an emotional read, that brought tears to my eyes, i loved the ending too, it concludes the events concerning Thaddeus' fate. ( )
