"Regina Castro, Adelaide Wilson-Chang, and Sophie Walden used to be best friends. As Army wives at Fort Fairfax, they bonded during their book club and soon became inseparable. But when an unimaginable betrayal happened amongst the group, the friendship abruptly ended, and they haven't spoken since. That's why, eight years later, Regina and Sophie are shocked when they get a call for help from Adelaide. Adelaide's husband is stationed abroad, and without any friends or family near her new home of Alexandria, Virginia, she has no one to help take care of her young daughter when she has to undergo emergency surgery. For the sake of an innocent child, Regina and Sophie reluctantly put their differences aside to help an old friend."--… (más)

Adelaide sends Sophie and Regina an SOS to come help her while she recovers from surgery and to take care of her daughter, Genevieve. Adelaide's husband is on deployment and Regina and Sophie drop everything to be at Adelaide's side, even though neither knows the other will be there and they haven't spoken to each other for a number of years.

This books tells the stories of these three ladies in current time and while their spouses were deployed ten or so years prior. It delves into the friendship they forged through a monthly book club and how it started up again when Sophie and Regina respond to Adelaide's SOS. While spending time with Adelaide, secrets come out and the truth is revealed regarding what happened all those years ago. ( )

Liked the friendship part but struggled with 3 character rotation of chapters - that wasn’t bad but then it was told present day and past so just too much rotation of past and present while also rotating three perspectives- detracted from story in my opinion ( )

Story of 3 women, Adelaide, Regina, and Sophie, with military ties that become friends in a book club while their husbands/partners are deployed. Then, when one of the friends witnesses something affecting another friend, she doesn't know what to do. But, the secret comes out anyway and destroys the friendship. Now, years later, Adelaide puts out a SOS to Regina and Sophie to come to her aid as she needs emergency surgery.
This is a long drawn-out story of military spouses, the things they endure, and missteps in friendships.
Just OK. ( )

Adelaide is about to have surgery. She is on her own because her husband is deployed overseas and she needs help with her recovery. She has a little girl and she just won’t be able to do what she needs to do. So she sends an SOS to her long time friends Regina and Sophie. These two ladies drop everything and make the long trip to help Adelaide. But, it is a very rocky start!

These characters are very real. I liked them and I hated them! Regina, Sophie and Adelaide have been through so much together. But, Regina and Sophie are on the outs. But Adelaide is going to TRY bring them together. However, Regina is not very forgiving and you will have to read this to find out.

I enjoyed these friends’ relationship and how they eventually found their way back together. I also loved the way the author wove in details of army life. Being an outsider, you just don’t know how hard it is…all the moving, raising kids alone, depending on others. Very well done!

Now…I did receive this novel from the publisher for a honest review. But, I never got to it. It is on sale now at chirp for $2.99. Since I am a fan of this author, I just jumped on that sale price. I listened to it in two days.

Need a good story about friendship and life…THIS IS IT! Grab your copy today! ( )
