In this book we follow Dante and Heath. Dante was introduced last book but we've seen Heath in a few of the previous books. I was excited for this book based on its summary and the fact that we were getting a sort of new character. This book mostly gave me what I wanted. With this series, I want to read a good romance obviously, but I also want to see that sense on danger and excitement. We did get that here but not until a bit later in the book so the first half of the book sort of dragged for me.
I thought the charcters and their relationship was fine here. I had enjoyed Heath from previous books and Dante was a good introduction and I liked that he ran a bakery. I did think in some ways the characters were a bit flat. The couple just reminded me a little too much of the couples that have already gotten books and the relationship tension was similar to past books as well. It's clear to me that this series as a whole relies a little too much on lack of communication as a plot point. I'm not complaining too much. Obviously, I have continued to read and mostly enjoy this series and I liked this book! I just want to maybe see a little more variety in this series.
I'm hoping that we might see that variety in the next book in this series. It looks like that will be one of the few books where one of the parties is not connected to an MC in any way and we know that there is a fake dating element which I think will be an interesting change. I'm still planning on continuing this series and I'm interested to see that happens in the next book. ( )
