I loved this book! It would be a great way to introduce kids to art not only as something to view, but as something to analyze. The layout gives some guiding questions and isolated pictures from the larger painting to get the reader thinking about it; then the actual painting points out some of the earlier pictures, with explanations, and highlights other points of analysis. As an adult, I learned a lot about art analysis and was shown things in the paintings I would not have otherwise noticed. The author also includes brief biographical information about each artist, as well as information about each painting (size, materials, years painted, etc.). Overall, this is an excellent introduction to art and art analysis (and even a little art history). ( )

Great as a stimulus for an art lesson. This book really gets children involved in looking at art. Big book, lots of variety, makes art accessible. The author says "by opening our children's eyes to art, we can help them understand the world in which they live and the people with whom they share it." This book allows students to ask questions about pictures and investigate paintings.

This nonfiction book for children helps them to explore popular paintings by many old masters. It is a great way to introduce art to children because this book lets them explore details of the paintings and understand some meaning behind the objects.

This was a great book full of art by artists such as Van Gogh and Botticelli. The book is very detailed, and one page has a detailed version of the painting, allowing chidlren to explore the elements, while the other page answers questions about the art. A beautiful book that helped me to learn too!

I found the artwork, and way the author asked children to look at the artwork, to be very original and fun. I've never been one to think too much about art, but this book required me to focus in on certain key elements. I found it very interesting.
