Summary:
You become a sailor in the serve of King Philip II of Spain you are about to set sail to invade your enemy the English. As a sailor you are set in the time period of the Spanish Armada. Having to deal with the many attacks and the diseases as well as the lack of food, water, and gunpowder. The Armada then ends but on your way back home the wind blows them to shore in which Englishmen hanged and killed some Spain people.

Personal Reaction:
I liked this story because when the children read this book not only will give them a little bit of information about history but will take them on a journey. The pictures were really detailed and colorful. I liked all of the little hints about being in the ship on every page.

Classroom Extensions:
1.) Discuss the event and have them draw what they think it would be like to be on a ship.
2.) Give more information about the event then have the children discuss how life would have been back then.

This book was extremely informative with less of the gore we have come to expect from this series. I was surprised at how much detail was provided, including types of ships, strategy, dates and locations. A great supplement to our history spine. ( )
