I was very anxious to see the portrayal of the "Father of Our Country" in a children's lit setting. I found to be inspirational as I have noticed with other children's lit biographies but not overly sugar coated like some. It mentioned tribulations he dealt with during his presidency showing some of the nastiness in politics as well as putting information about the fact that he was a slave owner while not downplaying it as a minor part of his life.

Definitely a great book to start the middle reader on the path to learning the history of this wonderful country and who is responsible in starting it. ( )
