Getting over Your Vampire Ex is as Easy as Killing Him and Stealing His Girlfriend

Holly Liddell has been stuck with crimped hair since 1987 when she agreed to let her boyfriend, Elton, turn her into a vampire. But when he ditches her at a gas station a few decades into their eternity together, she realizes that being young forever actually means working graveyard shifts at Taco Bell, sleeping in seedy motels, and being supernaturally compelled to follow your ex from town to townâ??at least until Holly meets Elton's other exes.
It seems that Holly isn't the only girl Elton seduced into this wretched existence. He turned Ida in 1921, then Rose in 1954, and he abandoned them both before Holly was even born. Now Rose and Ida want to kill him before he can trick another girl into eternal adolescence, and they'll need Holly's help to do it. And once Holly starts falling for Elton's vulnerable new conquest, Parker, she'll do anything to save her.
To kill Elton for good, Holly and her friends will have to dig up their pasts, rob a bank, and reconcile with the people they've hurt in their search for eternal love. And to win the girl, Holly will have to convince Parker that she's more than just Elton's crazy exâ??even though she is trying to kill him

A teen vampire book about real vampires!

I love vampires and twists on the traditional vampire lore, but I'm skeptical about teenage vampires because, well, Twilight. I was thoroughly blown away by The Lost Girls. Real teenage problems--familial drama, betrayal, broken hearts! Real vampires--blood, murder, gore! The stakes are real, the outlook is grim, but even the undead can band together and redefine what family means. It's not a book for the squeamish, but it definitely is for lovers of all things supernatural who appreciate a good revenge tale. ( )

Rather meh. Not a terribly likable main character, although the vampires are a little more plausible than usual in personality. (Needing to eat people on a regular basis would mess with you quite a bit)
There is a subtext about emotional /memory/life baggage that has some good points. However I think the author needs a little more polish. ( )

I really liked this book. I enjoyed the characters, and the platonic relationships. I especially loved how it dealt with trauma. However, I felt that the romance was rushed. Overall, I would recommend to people who are looking for an interesting take on vampires. ( )

A solid vampire book! I liked that the whole "wish I hadn't been turned" vibe that you get from most vampire novels was less dark angst and more simmering resentment and irritation. I also appreciated that hunting was nearly a non-event, not something that was either all-consuming or a point of existential woe. I was actually surprised in one respect; I totally thought Parker was going to be revealed as a spy for Elton. I held my breath through the sex scene, since it wasn't stated whether she was wearing the locket throughout or if she took it off, and either way it would have been an opportunity for Parker to steal it. Her "I asked a minion" explanation about how she knew where Stacey lived was crepe paper thin, and the speed with which she fell for Holly seemed implausible. (Vampires get a pass on temporal matters.) When Parker's "betrayal" turned out to be a scheme, I didn't see it coming until it was actually happening.

On the whole, an enjoyable book. ( )

I love teenage girls. They deserve all the revenge on shitty boys that exists.

What a fun lighthearted friendship vampire story with a little sapphic romance to boot. Utterly delightful. (And some interesting twists on vampire lore!) ( )
