I have to add that I’m fascinated at how many pop culture references are used as I don’t think they’re great for longevity’s sake, and also I feel as though the author seems older than me (45) and so can’t tell if these are trying too hard. Also not sure if she’s an American in Britain or is just trying to cater to her audience (?) because the language feels off. Not detracting from my enjoyment of these guys but definitely is making a statement to me. More of a 3.5. It’s my favorite best friends to lovers trope combined with Lily’s signature snark and banter, so I had a lot of fun reading this book. And Charlie’s rants about the importance of libraries were perfect too. I guess I just don’t feel that much of an attachment to this series as much as to the author’s previous series which are my absolute favorites. It’s still quite sweet and entertaining and I’ll obviously be reading the next book too. Adorable friends to lovers story. This is Charlie, Jesse's roommate from book 1, a librarian with epilepsy. The epilepsy seemed well researched and sensitively handled. Misha is my sort of character, arrogant and gruff on the outside, sweet and soft on the inside. The unrequited love damn near killed me, both guys were so oblivious of the others feelings. Sweet, funny and very British. Adorable friends to lovers story.
