I loved reading this story and it would be wonderful for primary readers to listen to. This story is about a little girl named Danbi who transfers to a new school from Korea and how she makes new friends throughout her first day adventures. This book has great representation of Korean characters and it would be very helpful for calming some nerves during the first week of school. ( )

This book is a simple story about a little girl who is a Korean immigrant on her first day of school in america. Through the course of the book Danbi goes from being an outsider to leading a parade with her classmates. This book could be comforting for other immigrant children; Danbi is inspirational because she found a way to make friends in a new school in a new country. I think this book would be best for first through third graders in a read allowed setting. ( )

A girl name Danbi, who came from South Korea trying to fit in. Finding ways to play with her classmate and getting along with them. Learning how to write her own name in english and how to get along with others. It is a beautiful illustration showing how is trying to fit in. ( )

Primary; Realistic Fiction; This is a great story of Danbi, a young girl who begins school in America unable to speak English. She slowly makes friends and learns to settle in but first has to push back the struggle and fear that came with the unknown of the American school. She is made fun of and teased, but builds relationships and learns to love her class. This is a great story to read when we have new students or have in a classroom library for students who may have similar struggles. ( )
