I tried, and while there are some dark themes (spousal abuse), that isn't what turned me off. Furthermore, I couldn't find an underlying a plot and the dialogue was very rough. I absolutely loathed Mitch, and it's kind of hard to enjoy a book when you can't stand one of the main characters. Unfortunately, it just didn't deliver on what the blurb promised. Set in Takoma Park among a group of college friends now raising families together, LADY KILLER explores spousal abuse and the ways that both long-standing friendships and marriages can unravel when put to the test. Mitch Lovett, a recently divorced father of two, is in love with Gail Strickland. Ed, Gail's jealous, abusive husband just happens to have received a new gun for his birthday. Dee Wynn decides she loves Mitch as well, and that nothing is going to stand in her way. According to Matthew Norman ("Domestic Violets"), "this quick burst of a book" reminded him of "some of John Updike's famous suburban romps." An explosive novel that sets in motion a series of events with tragic consequences for all involved. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
