A nonfiction, graphic novel about the author's grandmother and her life in Turkey. I haven't read a lot where the books are set in Turkey so this was an interesting book. This novel lets you see what it was like. I loved the emotions that were able to be shown through the artwork. ( ) sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
"Tales from behind the Window" is based on memories of an Anatolian grandmother and women she knew who suffered from male dominance over their lives. Writer and illustrator Edanur Kuntman seeks a unique way to express and give voice to women in her grandmothers memories and in our reality who were not able to reconcile their inner emotional depth with their rural worlds in Northern Turkey. One long and two short stories included in this book revolve around terrifying emotional burdens such as forced marriages, being betrayed by patriarchs, and lost love, which have haunted and still haunt many in rural Anatolia. "Kuntmans admirable work here provides a worthy account of not only how long such injustices can lurk under the international radar, but how they can have a direct effect on the personal stories of people you might even know."
