Grace learns about the branches of government and how it all works. Book shows character diversity by having students, teachers, and the principal being depicted from different ethnic backgrounds. As well, throughout the story, children learn about different branches of the government, even stating that anyone can be president - whether they are a man or a woman. At the back of the book, there is an explanation of exactly what each branch of government is and what they do. In addition, there is a list of ways children can get involved in making a difference in their school, family and community. I really enjoyed reading this book. When I was in elementary school, teachers never used books relating to our lesson. I think it is a terrific way to get students engaged in the topic and helps them retain the information too. This story is about a young girl who is very excited to go to washington for a field trip. At school, they are also trying to decide how to spend the money from a fundraiser. Ideas include new sports equipment, books, or musical instruments. Lastly an idea was brought up to build "a friendship mall". At the student council meeting, they voted and the friendship mall won. This story was a great way to introduce topics such as the 3 branches of government and relate them to what was happening at their school. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
