This book is very beautifully written, but I feel that it just could've been better! Like, Carmen in the first book when she discovers that suddenly her father has a new family. I feel like they could've gone into deeper detail about how she feels (as a Hispanic girl) to be with her father who now has a new family that is not exactly the same race as her. I think they really could've made the book about more. Teaching children that it's okay to see color and understand differences. ( )

I personally like this book because I am a drama Queen, and this book is all about the girls' adventure and stories (about boys) and their summers. Bridget is my favorite 'cause she never says no to a challenge no matter how weird or stalkerish it may seem. She was on the wild side always ready for more excitement. The over all book was really good, if your into chick books you'll really like it.

The whole story is about these girls, Bridget, Lena, Tibby, Carma, they are best friends and never spent a summer apart. But this year they will be. Right before they leave each other, they discover these pants that are magical. The pants fit them all perfectly and make them look amazing and more beautiful. It also gives them the feeling of love and bravery and courage. They make rules saying each of them get a share of the pants and they have to send them to each other at least two times around. Each of them do amazing things in the pants, some good and some bad. But over all they were things to learn from. then find their way back together while learning some valuable lessons. ( )

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series by Ann Brashares is the series I chose to read for my Above and Beyond or "A" Project. This entire series contains four books, all would be considered novels, and therefore reading them and writing a reflection and reading records on them took me the ten extra hours of doing an extra project required to receive an A in this course. However, I loved having the opportunity to read these books for this portion of the course. These books were about four best friends who found a pari of jeans that fit them all perfectly. They then decide to use the jeans as a way to keep in touch over their first summer away from one another. They also write letters to one another about events that happened to them during the time they had the pants and what happened when they were wearing the pants. This same underlying theme and purpose follows the four girls and their journeys throughout the entire series of four books. Although as the book progress and the girls grow older the adventures and paths life takes them down seem to grow bigger and further a part from one another, however through it all the girls still remain friends and will always be there for one another. I chose this series because it follows along with the theme of "journey" because it follows four girls and their individual journeys through life and the journey together as a group of friends. Therefore, I thought it would be the perfect book to read for my above and beyond or "A" project. Overall, I am happy that I chose to complete the "A" project for this course, and I am happy I chose this series of books about a journey through life and friendship to complete this project and the course in general. I really loved this series. It's beautifully written, the four girls will make you cry and laugh and enjoy their friendship as if you are one of them. Can't wait to get my hands on book 5! ( )

Innuendo: A 15 year old girl goes to camp and gets involved with one of the leaders. Premarital situations.

Violence: None

Swearing: I think there were a few in the book.

Drinking, Drugs, Smoking: Don't remember.

Age Appropriate: I read this when I was 16 and I wished I hadn't. I read the whole series waiting for it to redeem itself and it never did. There are premarital situations in each book.
