The artwork is appealing, but the text drags a bit. Using it through Follett's e-reader was a glitchy disaster, not that that is the book's fault! Hooray for paper books, libraries, and those who love them. ( ) This was interesting but a bit long. As a librarian I knew most of the information but it was nice to see it put out for kids. I especially like how Todd was an “everyday hero” instead of a “super” one. The illustrations are okay, but not in a style I gravitate to, but kids will find them interesting. Describes how an ordinary man named Todd Bol created the first little library. His simple idea to honor his mother ended spreading worldwide as many other ordinary people set up Free Little Libraries in their communities. Lively, informal tone gives this true story the feel of a read-aloud, very appropriate for a book about reading and libraries. It also works for reaching “ordinary” kids, inspiring all to believe that they too can do something heroic someday. The story of "ordinary hero" Todd Bol (and his partner in creating Little Free Libraries, Rick Brooks), and how his idea grew and spread. Lively illustrations are acrylic paint on illustration board. Includes Author's Note, more about Little Free Libraries, and More About the People and Events in This Book, and resources. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
