Wow. Ten books have passed, but it's hard to get it into my head that it's over. I feel like I say the same thing in every review, but this book was full of twists and turns, and I enjoyed the ride from beginning to end.

Ten starts with a kidnapping. In the middle of the night, Tessa hears someone break into her house. She manages to make one last call to her most trusted friend, Skylar Wyatt, before she is taken, but Skylar still has no idea where Tessa was taken or who took her. But then, people connected to Tessa start getting murdered, and once again, the detectives find themselves in a race against time to find Tessa and catch the killer.

The plot was great, and there was one huge twist that actually knocked all the air out of my lungs. I'm honestly still reeling from it, and partly in denial. The fact that Jane Blythe is STILL able to surprise me is a testament to how different and original the plot in every book in this series was. I did think that the plot after the big twist was less captivating than before, but that could just be that I'm a sucker for a good whodunnit mystery and waiting for the big reveal.

I've come to love the characters after being with them through thick and thin, and one thing I was most excited to see in this one after reading Nine was how Sophie would recover after her kidnapping. Although she wasn't the main focus of the book, I loved Sophie's scenes in this book most of all, and it was evident how much she had matured after the events of the last book. It was super heart-warming to read about Xavier and Annabelle and Paige, characters I still remember meeting at the very beginning of this ten-book journey.

As always, the writing was great, especially the mystery parts. But Ten, as the last book in the series, needed something that none of its predecessors did: closure. And before reading the book, I was nervous to death about how it would all end. I loved it, and there's something very satisfying about reading about so much tragedy and tension, but still having those domestic, cozy scenes to fall into at the end of the day.

Overall, this was a great series, and even though I've got mixed feelings about it coming to an end, it was an amazing journey, and like I say at the end of every review for this series, I'd highly recommend this for any lovers of mystery, thriller, and suspense—and you always get a little dash of romance! I turn my Kindle on, search for Ten by Jane Blythe, then click the cover with trepidation. I have been following Jane Blythe’s Count To Ten journey since 2016 and I am eager, yet hesitant to begin, wanting to know the end, yet wondering if it will meet all my expectations. Fair or not, I have set the bar high for Jane Blythe…and I am so happy to say that even though I hate to see the journey come to and end, I am very sad, yet satisfied with the end. She not only met my expectations, she exceeded them.

An electrifying beginning and it doesn’t take long for the bodies to start falling and I am fearful of those characters I have come to care so much about.

Tessa…independent, reclusive, strong…she has been through so much, yet Jane is done with her yet. She’s and urban legend.

JANE JANE JANE! You’re breaking my heart. Hope you enjoyed your killing spree.

He sure isn’t what I expected, but now I am even more worried about my family. You have put them through hell, but the horror just keeps on coming. I must be almost as bad as you because I sure do love reading what you write. The darker, the better, and you paint a bleak picture with your words.

I am almost half way in and I cannot begin to guess at what is to come. Whether it’s because I don’t want to know or face it, I would have to stop long enough to think about it…and I can’t seem to do that.

These characters cannot get a break. Maybe it is time to end the series, Jane, while some of them are still standing. I kinda smiled when I typed that. How evil am I? Will any of them find a happy ever after? How will Jane Blythe wrap it up? Will it have a casket or a pretty bow?

NO NO NO! At 85% tears are falling down my face. I am soooo sad.

OH NO! More tears. I finally gathered my self together, thinking the worst is over…

Jane, woman, OMG, you’re killing me…And it’s still not over.

I laughed, I cried. And I want more. Thank goodness, she has a new series coming, Broken Gems and Cracked Sapphire is due for release in February of 2020.

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Ten by Jane Blythe.
