I liked the history of Jackson Pollock in the book but I didn't like that it was entirely black and white. Pollock had some very colorful paintings that I wish were displayed in the book. A family read-aloud binge of picture books for my daughter's 21st birthday! A fun introduction to an iconic artist. I'm torn between liking the 14-page digression into Sam-I-Am territory (Did he paint them while he biked? Did he paint them while he hiked?) for its silliness or disliking it for denying me more factual Pollock information. But I do like the concept of teaching Children about art by using art. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

A clever, charmingly quirky portrayal of painter Jackson Pollock - and the first in a series of picture-book biographies of contemporary artists Jackson Pollock was unlike any other painter. Instead of sitting in front of an easel with brushes, he poured paint over canvases rolled-out across the floor, moving, splashing, and making the vivid liquid run with energy and rhythm. Pollock's story is told here with wit and eccentricity, perfectly paired with black-line illustrations - and splatters galore. Fausto Gilberti brings movement, life, and whimsy to the true life story of one of the most important contemporary artists of our time. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
