I also received a copy of this book from the publisher at ALA Annual 2019. ( ) Author Laura Deal and illustrator Tamara Campeau join forces in this poetic picture-book tribute to the beauty of the nighttime in the far north. As the Northern Lights dance and the stars flicker, ravens perch on the rooftops and a mother sings her baby to sleep. It is a time of darkness and dreams - a time of peace... Having already read and enjoyed Deal's earlier book, How Nivi Got Her Names, which addresses Inuit customs around naming and adoption, I picked up this second picture-book, also published by the Nunavut-based Inhabit Media, with interest. Although I didn't find it quite as engaging as that earlier book, it was sweet, and the accompanying artwork from Campeau was lovely. Recommended to anyone looking for new bedtime books with a wintry and/or Arctic theme. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
"In the sky at nighttime the northern lights dance, a mothers song sways on the breeze, and a raven roosts atop a tall building, bathed in the white of the moon. This lyrical poem sends readers sailing through the Arctic night sky to see and hear the unique beauty of a Northern night."-- No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
