So much fun to read and so many deliciously disturbed characters and situations. So now I am on a rampage to read as many stories in this series as I can. ( ) It's a light and fluffy series (this is an omnibus of four books and three shorter pieces - novelettes? Novellas? Short stories? One of each? No idea. All seven have solid story in them, the shorter ones just have a bit less detail. Most of the books are independent; set in the same world, there are references to events or characters from other books, but it's not a straight-line series. There are a few that form chains within the overall series, but all seven of these are independent (one has two sequels, two others have sequels planned - but none of those are in here). Because of this lack of connection, and the mix of novels and shorter works, there's a lot of confusion about the order within the series. According to Blain's website, the pieces in here are 1-6 and 9 (Fowl Play comes a little later, after a couple short pieces that aren't in the omnibus. The story is...paranormal romance, sort of. Urban fantasy, sure. Magic came back to the world, and there are everyone from lycanthropes (werewolves, mostly) to gorgons, fairies, unicorns, angels, and vanilla humans (adjective straight out of the stories) trying to get along, get ahead, deal with each other and the...interesting...events and consequences of who they are. We have, for heroes: cops, the daughter of a mermaid queen, a homeless woman, an amateur ballerina, the adopted daughter of the Devil...and many more. The worst of these I rate 3.5, worth rereading; there are several rated 4, excellent. Overall I give the book a 4. More detailed reviews on the individual books. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
