This one didn't suck me in as much as her other books because boxing has never been something I enjoyed. That being said, the author still created fantastic characters and had a good story. I'm not sure who thought of this idea of having seven different authors write full length books but whoever it was needs a raise. This is an amazing series. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Julep, who looks sweet but packs a helluva punch, helps to run the boxing gym her father started. She and her brother are both part owners of the gym, and Danny has just chased away their last chance of a heavy-weight champion for their gym. He's such a dillweed. That means that it's up to Julep to figure out what to do and where to find a fighter. She calls her friend Lola, who's a sports writer, and asks for help. Lola suggests Mateo, a disgraced former boxer.
Years ago, Mateo threw a fight, and then brilliantly imploded. Now he's just trying to keep his life rolling and help his father who is ill. He's working as a welder, sort of, but he misses boxing, so when Julep rolls up and invites him to the tryouts at their gym, he's interested, but tells her no, until his dad talks him into it. Turns out that he's the best fighter there, and the gym signs him.
This may look like it's about a forbidden love story between a boss and employee, and there is an aspect of that, but to me, it's all about redemption, love, family, and second chances. It's also about stumbling, falling down, picking yourself back up, and carrying on. And because it's an Alta Hensley book, you know that it's a great story with a whole lot of heat behind it. ( )
