A perennially popular author in many middle-school libraries, Hale hits it out of the park again with this graphic novel. Weird, fun, and fast paced, this little graphic novel attracts your interest right from the title and never lets up with its surrealistic and humorous take on your typical "kids save the world" plot line. This is a super weird read, and a very good choice for a kid/teen who wants something scary. It's gross and definitely goes in surprising and baffling directions, but it's not particularly violent/gory just extremely weird. And full of tentacles. And a person made out of teeth. I was left deeply unsettled, basically, and I think our middle school kids will love it. A strange little MG graphic novel about a late-night run for fast food by a group of school kids that turns into a run for their lives against taco bag squid bees that are replicating and therefore distorting and destroying the world. Weird but also kind of fun. Possibly a little too scary for the more timid MG readers, though. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

HTML: Sid, Axl, and Ivan volunteer to make a late-night fast-food run for the high school theater crew, and when they return, they find themselves. Not in a deep, metaphoric sense: They find copies of themselves onstage. As they look closer, they begin to realize that the world around them isn't quite right. Turns out, when they went to the taco place across town, they actually crossed into an alien dimension that's eerily similar to their world. The aliens have made sinister copies of cars, buildings, and peopleâ??and they all want to get Sid, Axl, and Ivan. Now the group will have to use their wits, their truck, and even their windshield scraper to escape! But they may be too late. They may now be copies themselves . . . I originally found this book in my library for a graduate assignment I’m working on and I was amazed to find it in the children’s room. This book was the thing of nightmares full of body horror. It honestly felt like an Invader Zim comic without the humor and fun colors (and I love Zim to death, but those are still classified as teen in my library). Again, it just wasn’t for me.
