Laurence Dahners is one of those writers who should not be picked up in mid series, despite what he says in his prologues. In the postapocalyptic world of the Hyllis family stories, our protagonists are the beneficiaries of a genetic mutation that gives them several extrasensory abilities. In Telepath a Hyllis cousin is discovered to have telepathic and hypnotic abilities. In typical Dahners fashion, the characters are most interested in the abilities medical uses for telepathy. Diagnosis and anesthesiology come in for the most attention. But it also is useful in espionage. As usual, Dahners tells a good story but never strays from his expected formula. 3.5 stars. ( )
