GORGEOUS illustrations. I mean GORGEOUS!!! This is a beautiful book about the ruby throated hummingbird. I think this would have great success in a storytime. (

Gorgeous, ornately patterned and gold-highlighted illustrations and narrative vignettes accompanied by information about the annual patterns of hummingbird life. Would pair well with Honeybee (2021 RC nominee) for a diptych of pollinator-centered adventure narratives -- as long as the audience has a decent attention span. (

Hummingbird is the perfect blend of fiction and nonfiction. It focuses on the migration and life of ruby-throated hummingbirds and a family, part of which live in North America and the others in Central America. The illustrations are fabulous! this book should win an award! (
