This book is about a girl named Bird who does not have many friends. She trys to get this kid named Harlem to be her friend. She trys so hard ,then finally he becomes her friend. Bird and Harlem don't really fit in in school, but they have eachother and that is all that matters.
This book was very interesting. It also made me look at the world differently. It should me that are people who feel left out. And if you give them just a little attention. Even though in this case Bird and Harlem were happy with it just being them two.

Bird (Berdette) is a spunky young girl who befriends the new boy in town because she wanted a friend even if it was this grungy, friendless boy. When she discovered he was a good speller she persuaded him to be her partner in the spelling bee so she could win a trip to Disneyland along with fame and glory. But, of course, the road to fame and glory is not smooth.
