This is such a powerful story. It is not just about Doaa, it is an actual account of what happened, and is still happening in Syria. It's crazy how long this conflict has been raging. It started with the Arab Spring in 2011. Doaa was an adolescent. Her happy childhood comes to an abrupt end. This story shows the compassion of people as well as the hate. It tells the story of a girl with a powerful faith in God. It's tragic. Obviously she has survived, so far, but many others will not. It is current and a great way for those of us who will never live through the horrors of war to understand why someone would risk their life to flee their home and their country. (
