And had some good steam. I was interested and engaged and chuckling through most of it. It has a wonderful cast of characters, and a nice romance. This is my first by this author and I'm really quite hopeful and excited to read more. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

HTML: A mistress. A mountain of debt. A mysterious wreck of a building. Delilah Swanpoole, Countess of Derring, learns the hard way that her husband, "Dear Dull Derring," is a lot more interesting??and perfidious??dead than alive. It's a devil of an inheritance, but in the grand ruins of the one building Derring left her, are the seeds of her liberation. And she vows never again to place herself at the mercy of a man. But battle-hardened Captain Tristan Hardy is nothing if not merciless. When the charismatic naval hero tracks a notorious smuggler to a London boarding house known as the Rogue's Palace, seducing the beautiful, blue-blooded proprietress to get his man seems like a small sacrifice. They both believe love is a myth. But a desire beyond reason threatens to destroy the armor around their hearts. Now a shattering decision looms: Will Tristan betray his own code of honor...or choose a love that might be the truest thing he's ever known No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |

Or: "The Widow, the Mistress and the Maid"
Gah, super boring!
It's more about the "Grand Palace on the Thames" than an actual romance, (with that exact phrase repeated over 100 times—I HATE IT.) Any spice or excitement doesn't happen until about 80% of the book. I found Delilah super annoying and felt like Tristan didn't make enough of an appearance to actually like him enough.
According to my Kindle, Angelique (the mistress) was mentioned 333 times, while Tristan's name was used 224 times. Truly majority of the plot was the ladies running the damn place.
This is my first book by this author, and while I'll give her another try, if this is her usual style, I will gauge my eyes out!
Oh, and did I mention THE DAMN GRAND PALACE BY THE THAMES??... gawd. Stop it.

🌶️🔥: 3/5 (but not until about 75~80% of the book) ( )
