As an a'ani warrior, my life matters little. Cloned from the same matter as thousands of others, I am but one of many. Here on the ice planet, though, I can start over. I can become my own person, have my own needs, my own wants. I know what I want. I have known since the moment I arrived. Her name is Angie. She is human, with sad, lonely eyes, and a very pregnant belly. To her, I am not just another clone. I am Vordis, the one who laughs at her jokes, tends to her needs, and makes her smile. I will do anything to make her mine. But my brother and fellow clone Thrand thinks the same way, and he's just as determined to win her. Will I have to destroy my bond with my brother to win my female? Or will he cause a rift between us that's impossible to mend? Contains mature themes.… (más)

Angie woke up to discover that she's on an alien planet. On top of that she's very pregnant, without any memories of getting that way. Vordis is a clone who has been enslaved all of his life. He also wakes up to discover that he's on an alien planet. He and his "brother" Thrand had instructions implanted in the brains that they need to protect Angie, but Vordis feels more for her than just protective.

The first time that I tried reading this was in October 2020. The story didn't grab me, so I stopped halfway through. I wanted to continue the ice home series, so I decided to try this again. I didn't remember the book very well, so I borrowed the audiobook and started from the beginning.

This is a cute book, but not a favorite. Angie thinking that she couldn't have certain thoughts when she was pregnant was annoying, but I understand that she was in a strange situation. And while Angie and Vordis had a lot of miscommunications, the way that they cared about each other was really sweet. ( )

Angie is a character of interest, mystery, and curiosity since the Icehome series began. She's the one who became pregnant while a slave though she has no memory of how, when or by whom, or any of her slave experience for that matter. Now she is on the Ice Planet, and the cloned "twins" each want her for his mate. How in the world is this one going to be resolved? I think this is one of my favorites in both series, because Angie's situation, of being pregnant with a baby of unknown origin and species, and having the twins/clones her constant protectors. Vordis, among all these mate-besotted males, is one of the sweetest and sexiest of all, perhaps because the a'ani, even though they are created not born, seem more like humans than the various other aliens. A really delightful story. I continue to appreciate Ruby Dixon's love of coupling, children, family, commitment, problem solving, community, and love! ( )

Angie and Vordis.
Icehome has opened up new storylines to the Blue Barbarian series.
It has such a mixture of culture and races that it feels new.
Vordis and Thand are anni, which are clones and as we saw in previous books they both had some sort of interest in Angie.
Angie is pregnant, though not mated so this story unravels the mystery of her baby.
The book starts pre Gails arrival. Plus pre the island arrivals. Then covers their arrival and beyond.
There are breadcrumbs dropped for future books of other couples.
Plenty from loved characters from the rest of the planet and previous books plus other singles who have not resonated yet.
No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine.
No cheating.
Due to Angie' s pregnancy I think this one is a little more slow burn, also due to the vast differences in culture they have issues not misunderstanding each other.
HEA. ( )

My only problem with this book? I read it too fast and I'm done with it. That makes me sad. But, really, it's the book's fault for being so good, right?

I love seeing how Vordis is trying to be an individual. It can't be easy for him to do that, because, well, it just can't be, if all his life he's had to be one of a unit. And to have someone who is literally his exact duplicate follow him around and try to do everything that he is? Yeah, I'da had to cut someone.

I felt so sorry for Angie. I mean, she had so much she had to deal with, more than anyone else there, I think. It was hard for her, but Vordis definitely made it better for her.

Great story. Need more. ( )
