Super sexy! Against a sensual New Orleans backdrop, Moonlight & Whiskey follows a womans journey toward acceptance of her body and herself.Helen Hoang, author of The Kiss Quotient When life gives you curves, you gotta learn how to rock them. Successful businesswoman Avery Barrows likes her dips and curves, but shes sick of the haters telling her that she should be ashamed of her body instead of embracing it. Determined to send them a big f*** you, Avery resolves to cut loose during a girls trip, hightailing her quick-mouthed, plus-sized self to New Orleans. So, whats a smart woman with a little extra gotta do to get laid in this town? Not much if you ask Declan McGinn, the lead singer of BlackSmith. Tall, dark, and tattooed, with a body made for sin, Declan prefers his women as curvy as his guitars. Averys sharp tongue and keen mind makes him want her even more. As they burn up the sheets, Avery and Declan realize this is no one-night (or even one-week) stand. But for all of her bluster, Avery isnt sure she can handle any more rejection. Besides, Declan has demons of his own. Now Avery has a choice to make: play it safe, or place her trust in the hands of a man whos as tempting as the devil himself. Holy shit. I was instantly hooked in by Avery's sass! I absolutely loved this book.

From the well developed characters to the detailed setting of New Orleans, this book was so raw and emotional. It was perfect in every way I could have hoped for. I've never been to New Orleans, besides watching a couple of tv shows set in that area - or rather had the vibe of New Orleans, it sounds so beautiful and upbeat from the way the author described it.

Avery and Declan, both have personal demons that made their HEA journey a bit rough, but totally worth it.

Avery is one hell of a character, I love her sass, cleverness, and her struggles. She's such a real and complicated character. Declan is the lead singer of BlackSmith. He's literally the male version of Avery, he's sexy, has his issues, and has a mouth on him! But when he meets Avery, one night turns into several he suddenly realizes he doesn't want her to go back to Dallas, and she secretly doesn't want to either... but certain events occur... which make her question things.

Ahh the ending was heartwarming, it was beautiful. If you like Contemporary Romance novels, then I highly recommend it! I cannot wait to read more from this author!

From what I can tell Moonlight & Whiskey is Tricia Lynne's debut novel, which is sooo freaking good for a debut. This is the second debut I've read this year besides, Crown of Feathers by Nicki Pau Petro, which is also a 2019 release, I can't compare the two since they're different genres, BUT holy shit, they both are up there on my two favourites this year~

Overall Opinion:
Avery Barrows resolves to cut loose and overcome her insecurities during a girls trip with her best friend Kat to New Orleans where she literally bumps into the lead singer of BlackSmith, Declan McGinn. Tall, dark, and tattooed, with a body made for sin who prefers his women as curvy as his guitars, Avery has a choice to make but will she play it safe or place her trust in the hands of a man who’s as tempting as the devil himself?

Tricia Lynne’s first novel ”Moonlight & Whiskey” undeniably hits the mark. The descriptive scenes, the laugh out loud moments, the oh so sexy scenes and dialogue between the leads were thus far the best part of the series. It’s nice for a change to see a curvy heroine in a romantic comedy who is strong, smart, and capable of accomplishing things without the help of a man. Avery is a breath of fresh air and is a perfectly flawed human being. It was easy to relate to her character and to get a sense of what she feels throughout the story. Everyone has insecurities, Avery included, and Declan does everything in his power to make it known that she is a sexy independent woman who shouldn’t self-doubt herself and encourage her to embrace the curves. Sure it’s obvious that Avery is working on rebuilding her confidence however we can’t leave out Declan, who has issues of his own that he’s attempting to resolve.

The few negatives that I will mention is Avery attitude. Yes, we know she’s a badass and we understand she’s a spitfire, but some situations in which she lashed out was uncalled for and immature. Also the constant back-and-forth ‘I hate you. I love you’ between the leads were a little too much and repetitive. And should I bother mentioning the instant love? No, let’s not. Moreover, some scenes were a bit over the top, dramatic, and unrealistic which was a big no-no for me.

Overall, this author’s first series is worth the read if you’re looking to venture off to a book that’s unlike your typical romance novel.

I’m not sure exactly what I was expecting from this book, but turns out it wasn’t what it actually was.

I liked both the MCs to an extent. I could really relate to Avery’s insecurities because of her curves which are only compounded here due to her trying so hard to make it in a man’s profession. I applauded her trying to be more confident in her skin and believe that she is sexy and worthy. Declan is the usual broody bad boy we all love in our romance novels and I liked the way he treated her. However, both of them have too many walls in place so that they never get hurt again with short tempers to go along, which leads to quite a few misunderstandings. I might have liked the angst and the eventual resolution in another book but I couldn’t enjoy it here because every time one of them felt threatened, they decided to humiliate each other with words and I really hated it.

The writing is very easy to read and I finished it fairly quickly. The author also brings New Orleans to life with her words and I was mesmerized by the descriptions of the city - I just want to visit it once now. I also really liked the side characters here, both of their friends are great and supportive and brought some light moments to this very intense love story. I might even be interested in reading their individual stories next.

This had all the elements of a romance I usually like - chemistry, passion, intensity and the whole soulmates thing - but I just couldn’t warm up to the main characters enough. However, this might still be the right one for you and you should take my review with a grain of salt. ( )

First sentence in the book blew me away. Just 5 short words, but sets the story for you perfectly. Loved the book, couldn't read it fast enough. Loved Avery, definitely identified with her - a lot! She had a lot to learn about herself, but once she did, look out Declan! The only thing I wasn't happy about in the story was the somewhat abrupt ending. I was left wanting more, I need to know what Avery does next and what about Kat and Jamie??

As a society, it's time we change it up a little. Beauty is more than a pretty face and fit body. Happiness is more than how we look and how we are perceived to be. A beautiful person can hide an ugly heart. Sexiness is about not just the window dressing, but the person that dwells underneath. Moonlight & Whiskey has the power to shake up some hearts, even as it opens minds. Tricia Lynne proves that it's all about the heart when it comes to sex appeal. Temptation with a bit of cliche equals a sensually stunning tale of self empowerment. ( )
