The Bauhaus school of design was founded 100 year ago in 1919 (I did the maths), and this book is an introduction to the people, products and politics, the art and the architecture that characterised the Bauhaus, summarised in 100 short essays, each subject illustrated with an accompanying photograph or art reproduction. Founded and developed upon socialist ideals, the Bauhaus inevitably ran foul of the Nazis and closed before WWII, by which time its influence had spread across the world.

There's so much to explore about the Bauhaus which is only touched upon in this book - I hope I'll be able to follow up in further reading some of the intriguing characters and subjects introduced here. ( )
