This story offers a great example of how to find beauty in everyday life. Reminds me of two of my favorite picture books: ANOTHER POND and LAST STOP ON MARKET STREET. ( ) Subdued art and gentle storytelling about a young boy who comes along to his father's job as a night shift custodian. The audience may end up wondering why the boy comes along to work rather than being able to stay home. There are not a lot of internal clues as to why they are alone and, apparently, living in a motel. This past summer, my eldest daughter was finally old enough to volunteer at the library where I work. On her first afternoon, we were both sitting behind the reference desk. Mom and daughter ref desk team. My heart filled with emotion and pride. She caught me glancing at her, and smiled a knowing smile. She waved her fingers at me and we got back to work. Night Job by Karen Hesse elicits the same feelings. I love this book. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
