It's a Hummingbird's Life is a great informational text. The illustrations and labels help the reader understand and picture what each detail of a hummingbird's life is like. There are plenty of vocabulary words within the text and this book would be a great resource for a science lesson. The content is easy to understand and covers many aspects about the wonderful ruby-throated hummingbird. ( )

“It’s a Hummingbird’s Life” by Irene Kelly is an informational book about a hummingbird and how they live. The book describes that day to day duties that hummingbirds must do to survive.

When I picked this book out, it looked attractive and like it would be interesting to read. I was wrong. The author is just cut and dry on the text. The words so a wavy motion which looks like fun to read but it is very difficult to stay with the words.

This book could be used to help teach more on animals but the teacher might want to be the one to read it since I think that students will have a hard time keeping track of where they are in a sentence. ( )
