( ) An audiobook about science, weather an data. Yes, please! The last 45 minutes is what really made me sit up and take notice. I used to be one of those Oklahomans who thought my swath of land was somehow magically protected from tornadoes. My family homesteaded our farm over 90 years ago. There have only been two near misses in that time (and by near within a mile), but we've never taken a direct hit. But I'm also a data analyst and I understand how data and modeling works. We've really been lucky, because it could've been us. Will definitely be heeding weather warnings in the future. I can't recommend this book enough! It was fantastic! The book purports to be about big data piles owned by the US Government and how they affect our lives. However, it's as much a political harangue on the commercialization of those data and how that affects our lives. The rant gets tiresome, as I suppose does the press' political influence on our lives in 2018. Most of the time in this audiobook is spent with examples--tiresome after awhile. However, point taken--commercial manipulation of weather and other data, for the benefit of customers only, can be dangerous for the rest of us. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
