"No, it’s not an excuse. But it’s a reason. You were a seven-year-old child terrified of your father. I saw in your eyes—that fear. I thought your life might be different with him than what I experienced in his employ as a guard, that he would value you and treat you like gold. But he doesn’t, does he? Not even now.”

MINI SPOILERS AHEAD FOR FALLING KINGDOMS:

MAGNUS MY LOVE!!!

It showed just another reason behind Magnus and explains why he acts like that and why he is how he is. He values his throne, his family and his kingdom much more than himself. And I am actually so happy that there were people who actually saw the real him even before the actual novel starts and comes around.

The novella gives a clearer view and message on Magnus and this is just a must read for the fans of Falling Kingdoms and all who plan to start this series. Magnus has always been one of my favorite characters no matter what ( )
