This Non-Fiction picture book is a cute and humorus way to learn about some of the lesser known animals in this world. It illustrates and explains various animals along with their characteristics that help them survive. ( ) This book goes from animal to animal talking about what makes them unusual from other more famous animals. All these animals have an aspect (trait) that some people may see as negative or boring but the book shares why these traits actually help them survive. I really enjoy books like this because it can feel so repetitive reading about the same animals and their crazy traits. I would use this book when teaching a unit on animal traits and how those traits help them live. I could see myself using the animals from this book as prompts for a project on traits and how they help the animal live. Factual story of animals interesting animals that are considered underdogs of the animal kingdom. This book explains that what we might think is not a good trait is most definitely a wonderful trait to have. Beautiful illustrations help children want to know more about these animals. A must have for any child who likes all animals. PIPSQUEAKS, SLOWPOKES, AND STINKERS by Melissa Stewart celebrates animal underdogs.
