A collection of lesser known plays by Tennessee Williams, most of them shorter than his usual plays. It is hard to find a likeable character in this entire collection, but in spite of that, the characters draw you into their stories and their lives, giving lie to the fact that you have to have a sympathetic character for a reader to take interest. These are the very dregs of society, no matter what their social position. A certain surreal character pervades the work; the characters are just real enough to be believable, while just over the top enough to be unbelievable. It is the right mix. It's a shame no one is performing these plays. ( )
