Detective Inspector Hillary Greene has only a few weeks left before her early retirement. Commander Donleavy is reluctant to see her go, and so when a suspicious death case arrives it is handed to Greene. The victim is Michael Ivers, warehouse manager, a gambler and a notorious womaniser. Complications might arrive because her ex-sergeant Frank Ross is the nightwatch man at the scene. Another enjoyable read in this series with its interesting plot and believable characters. I received a copy of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. Hillary works her last case as a DI before her early retirement - a murder on a business park - and pleasingly Frank Ross turns up as the night watchman. There is the murder investigation, the scam Frank is involved in, and the continuing saga of the mess Janine has got Hillary into. Each of these novels includes chunks filling the reader in on Hillary's ex-husband etc from way back before book 1 starts and I wonder if it is really necessary, although at least references to the infamous Dick Francis novel have petered out. A quick enjoyable read. I look forward to the series where Hillary works on cold cases. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Tying up loose ends.
Hillary has turned in her resignation but is handed one last apparent case to work before she actually leaves The Job. The case is a mess and so are several members of what is still her team. The ends of her cases are always a big twist brought on by obsessive due diligence, but this twist is spectacular!
I ran out of audiobooks and had to pin myself down to sight read, but it was well worth it. ( )
