The tale continues and we find out who Akira is...(SPOILER) a young boy being held captive underground in a secret cryogenic chamber-facility at the construction area of Neo Tokyo's Olympic stadium site. I love the inclusion of almost mythological characters, very Japanese, old-wise-children, Takashi, Kiyoko, and Masaru, who can control the minds of others; the youth culture of drug-using, restlessness, and teenage reasoning (believing they are in the right fight for justice); and most of all the science fiction story of children (named Numbers) being used for political control. The future technologies include flying underground vehicles and satellite lasers. I'm not so fond of the violence, but the fight scenes are well depicted. I look forward to reading the rest of the story. ( ) Chase continues. While Takeda and Kei keep on searching for Akira, Tetsuo also gets interested about the Akira. Feeling his powers growing his thoughts are centered on controlling this mysterious power. Considering that action quickly ends up in the secret military complex things heat up very quickly. In a very dramatic cat-and-mouse chase our heroes might just pull it out when new players join the game. Story develops in a very steady tempo, no-one is omnipotent and every side makes mistakes that might cost them dearly. Military vs Tetsuo fight on the gigantic lift carrier was truly something to behold. Art is truly gorgeous. Recommended to all fans of SF. The post-apocalyptic world of Akira is one that has allowed Katsuhiro Otomo to revolutionize the manga and anime industry with his visionary and artistic style and Volume 2 doesn't disappoint. You just cannot put this book down. Akira's second volume is pure, non-stop fun action from start to finish...as we watch Tetsuo grow in his psychic abilities, become increasingly more unstable, and attempts to confront Akira face-to-face. All the while his former best friend is attempting to destroy Tetsuo before he releases Akira. Cinematic and action-packed Akira is required reading. Great stuff. A huge improvement on the first volume in terms of pacing, character interactions etc. Still action-centric, but without compromising on story development. There are a couple of fun sub plots as well. By this point we are pretty near to overtaking where the film leaves off, and seeds have been planted in prep for where things are headed. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Despite being stuck in a frozen status, Akira still poses a threat to Neo-Tokyo and Tetsuo might be the city's only hope if it is ever released, but Tetsuo and his powers have become unstable and a group gathers to stop him from doing the unthinkable.
