With its unique premise and cast of eclectic characters, A Cowboy Firefighter for Christmas by Kim Redford is a lovely holiday romance that fans of contemporary western fiction will enjoy. This first installment in the Smokin' Hot Cowboys series features an investigation into a series of fires in the small town of Wildcat Bluff and a sizzling hot love story between Misty Reynolds and Trey Duvall.

Misty does not let her fear of fire stop her from investigating a rash of suspicious fires in Wildcat Bluff. She immediately crosses paths with Trey and she overcomes her phobia long enough to help the sexy volunteer firefighter put out a grass fire and despite her attraction to him, she cannot completely rule him out as the arsonist. Trey is equally drawn to Misty but he quickly senses that she is being less than truthful with him about her reasons for visiting Wildcat Bluff.

A Cowboy Firefighter for Christmas is a little slow paced with an over-the-top (but somewhat unusual) storyline. Insta-lust quickly turns to insta-love for both Misty and Trey as they investigate the fires. Endearing character traits and Misty's cutesy nickname soon become annoying while the secondary characters are so quirky they comes across as caricatures instead of real people. The weakest part of the storyline is the fire investigation since there is little suspense as to who is responsible for the setting the fires.

Despite these issues, A Cowboy Firefighter for Christmas is a well-written, light-hearted holiday romance. Kim Redford incorporates factual information into the storyline, which adds to the novel's overall appeal. Wildcat Bluff is a charming, close-knit town with interesting and diverse residents. All in all, it is a nice beginning to the Smokin' Hot Cowboys series that I recommend to fans of the genre.

REVIEW:  A COWBOY FIREFIGHTER FOR CHRISTMAS BY KIM REDFORD

A Cowboy Firefighter for Christmas by Kim RedfordMy rating: 4 of 5 starsDon't stand too close to the flames or you will feel the heat. Kim Redford has written a story that is quite intense. Fire plays a central role in this tempting read. An arson investigator and a firefighter are working together to solve a dangerous mystery. Working through personal demons, learning to trust each other and fighting an unexpected attraction. So far so good. Add in serious circumstances, constant twist and great storytelling and you can't miss.My interest in books has taken me in many different directions and introduced me to a number of characters, but Misty was a force onto herself. Having endured so much in her life and still managing to soldier on was a great credit to the character and the author. A Cowboy Firefighter for Christmas is whole new type of holiday read. A little mystery and a lot of heat. Copyright of Night Owl ReviewsView all my reviews ( )

**I received a free copy of this book for an honest review.**

This book was just the thing to get me into the holiday spirit.

With a hot cowboy firefighter and a town full of helpful, funny, and kind residents, what more do you need?

This book had me laughing and cheering Trey and Misty on from the very beginning.

Also, I figured out who was starting the fires pretty quick. When the shoe print was mentioned, I knew I had guessed right from the very beginning.

A few times I had doubted it, but in the end was proven to be correct.

Also, I love that Trey was able to help Misty get over her fears of Christmas. They balance each other out well and I love how well Misty got along with Trey's friends and family. ( )

Review:

"A Cowboy Firefighter for Christmas" by Kim Redford....

What I liked about this novel..

This novel was about Misty [an investigator] and Trey's[rancher and local firefighter] story of a small town romance with a 'western twist.' Both of these two people were not looking forward to the Christmas holiday that was coming upon them in the small town of Wildcat Bluff, Texas. I liked how this author brought these two together as they are drawn to each other putting out a small grass fire. I found this storyline somewhat suspenseful in that the read will hold your attention and will keep you guessing who is guilty of setting these fires until the very end. By working together will these two be able to find out just who is behind these fires? I loved how the story will all come together for Misty and Trey. Would I recommend this novel? YES!

I received this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. ( )
