This is not a story for the very young as the text is too long, but for primary students and older, this book has a great message. When the fish disappear from the bay, Lars, the little polar bear and his friends decide to do something about it. They are successful and the fish return. It sounds like a simple message but this book could be used for many things. When looking at the problems with global warming and changes to habitat this would be a great book to read. When talking about what we can do to save the world, this book shows that when we work together we can make a difference. It also shows that one person (or animal in this case) can have an idea that can solve a problem. I loved the illustrations. They look like watercolour or pencil crayon pictures that add a softness to the story that really has a serious message. A great book for a school or classroom library.
