"A continuation of USA TODAY bestselling author Leonard Goldberg's The Daughter of Sherlock Holmes, A Study in Treason is a new intriguing locked room mystery for Joanna and the Watsons to solve. The following case has not previously been disclosed to the public due to the sensitive information on foreign affairs. All those involved were previously bound by the Official Secrets Act. With the passage of time and the onset of the Great War, these impediments have been removed and the story can now be safely told. When an executed original of a secret treaty between England and France, known as the French Treaty, is stolen from the country estate of Lord Halifax, Scotland Yard asks Joanna, Dr. John Watson, Jr., and Dr. John Watson, Sr. to use their keen detective skills to participate in the hunt for the missing treaty. As the government becomes more restless to find the missing document and traditional investigative means fail to turn up the culprit, Joanna is forced to devise a clever plan to trap the thief and recover the missing treaty. Told from the point of view of Dr. John Watson, Jr. in a style similar to the original Sherlock Holmes stories, A Study in Treason is based partly on facts in our world and partly on the facts left to us by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Full of excitement and intrigue, this mystery is sure to be enjoyed by fans of Sherlock Holmes"--… (más)

Copies of a treaty between Britain and France are being made at the country estate of Lord Halifax. Important because this is 1914. But then the original is stolen, from a seemingly closed room. Having failed to discover the document Scotland Yard bring in Dr Watson and his son Dr John Watson, Jr and his wife Joanna. Joanna who just happens to be the daughter of the now dead Sherlock Holmes.
This is the second in the series and can be read as a standalone story.
An enjoyable and interesting mystery with the likeable characters of the Watsons. a Lestrade is also involved.

A Holmesian mystery and a locked room mystery, what could be more intriguing? I thoroughly enjoyed this mystery with Joanna Watson (daughter of Sherlock Holmes), her husband John Watson, Jr., and the elder Dr. Watson. The author played fair with the reader without many "pull a hare out of the hat" moments. I had a gut feeling about what was happening and was pleased to find it was true.

While part of a series, this volume can be read as a standalone book. I would suggest it for fans of Sherlock Holmes or anyone who likes mysteries. ( )

Joanna, her husband, Dr. John Watson the younger (can't remember if he is a Jr. or a III) and the original Watson character look into the theft of an important document which has been mysteriously stolen from an aristocratic estate.

A simple enough mystery with enjoyable characters, good plotting and a well done setting. I'm not much into mysteries, but I have enjoyed these two "Daughter of Sherlock Holmes" tales. Joanna seems quite serene compared to how the original Sherlock was depicted. I like her, but it would be nice to see a little of the fiery personality usually associated with Holmes. Overall quite a nice story. ( )

Joanna Blalock is the consummate "plod"; she even has a magnifying glass with her at all times. The contrast between her and ordinary coppers, as personified by Lestrade and the oaf from ONI, is almost painfully manifest in this enjoyable Sherlockian pastiche. She has two Watsons to support her and has even resurrected the "irregulars" as she seeks to find the missing Treaty. An old estate, hidden rooms, and a mysterious stranger all keep the pot boiling; though, one might wonder how the stranger afforded his hotel lair. ( )

I LOVE SHERLOCK HOLMES STORIES AND THE TV SHOW ELEMENTARY! Read the daughter of Sherlock Holmes Mystery #1 but the Mystery #2 could be read as a stand alone. If you like the narrative of Holmes thought patterns then you will enjoy this book. Joanna has the mind to unravel clues just like her father. It is not surprising that Joanna has radiated attraction to Dr. John Watson Jr. who she has married. The elder John Watson still remembers his old friend Sherlock and contributes his expertise in the mystery solving endeavors. Joanna and the two Watsons are on the hunt for the secret treaty that has been stolen and if it falls into enemy hands could lead to war. Believe I enjoyed the first in this series more because it has more family connections being revealed. "A copy of this book was provided by St Martin's Press via Netgalley with no requirements for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion." ( )
