I also liked how Julia stood up for the Hammonds to Emma's nephew because she'd promised Emma she would, and I liked seeing how the Wortham and Hammond families ended up working together to make it through the tough times of the Great Depression. "To everything there is a season. A time to every purpose under heaven." This was the theme for this story. It will be a time of confusion and grief, but in the end the families will discover a gift of hope that will shape their future. This is book 2 in this series and you almost have to read them in order to fully appreciate the depth of sorrow in this story. In this story the Wortham family is struck down by the death of two close friends, one being their neighbor, Wilametta Hammond, days before Christmas in 1931. Wila was the mother of ten children and she kept the family held together. When she dies her husband, George, goes into deep depression and Sam and Julia Wortham will have to pick up the pieces for the children, with the help of dear neighborly friends. The way the grief was handled by each of these family members was very different and very well written. There was such heartache, but life must go on and what an undertaking for the Wortham family. But God does provide and His faithfulness and peace will get them all through this season of their life, with a little help from their dear friend Emma. This is a series well worth the time it takes to read. I am off to discover what happens next in "Katie's Dream". I loved this book and could not put it down. It is part 2 in a series. The entire series is wonderful and should be read in order to gain the whole picture. Book one really lays the groundwork for book 2 and introduces the characters very well, I think. I grew attached to the characters almost immediately and found myself looking forward to a moment when I could sit down a read a bit more. I personally felt very sad at the death that takes place but it made me think about how God really provides, how he knows our need and directs our journey, how his plans are laid out from the beginning. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
