Nix continues to grow as a character and continues searching for justice. We learn a lot about Romano's deal with the devil and a little bit about how it affects Nix. We get to know Nix's guns Eleanor and Dinah a little better and learn a bit more about their past with her sister. On top of all that an enemy becomes an ally, and an ally turns into an enemy. Nix has been through so much, but it's far from over. I absolutely heart Killian and am really excited to watch his and Nix's 'relationship' grow. Her husband didn't die that long ago, but I can totally see them together and wouldn't mind it one bit. Mayer's Nix series is definitely becoming my fave series of hers and I look forward to seeing what happens next for the characters. * This book was provided free of charge from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I still don't much like Phoenix. She's turning more into a James Bond who worked for the mob. All of the lucky on-the-fly plans and non-stop action play into that. She isn't sexual, but is driven by her love of her son.
The addition of Bear made this book better than its predecessor. To enjoy this book you must have read Fury of a Phoenix. (
