The fan-favorite creative team of Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti joins forces with a slew of superstar comics creators-including Neal Adams, Simon Bisley, Joseph Michael Linsner, Billy Tucci, John Timms and more-for HARLEY'S LITTLE BLACK BOOK. She's the psychopathic psychotherapist with a heart of gold and a mind for mayhem. Now she's uniting with the greatest heroes in the DC Universe in her very own team-up title. Ain't it amazing? With the Joker firmly in her rearview mirror, Harley Quinn has become an antihero like no other. But sometimes she runs into threats too, uhh, threatening for any one person to beat. That's when she turns to a who's who of the biggest, baddest, most bodacious heroes in the whole universe! Superman. Wonder Woman. Green Lantern. Zatanna. Lobo. And...Harley Quinn??? Whoever's tagging along, there's one thing for sure: Wherever Harley goes, high-octane hijinks are sure to follow! Flip through at your own risk! Collects the full miniseries.… (más)

This is a collection of one shots of Harley paired with various people. The most off the wall pairing was with Lobo. So, for the most part you get to see her interact with different people that normally she wouldn’t cross paths in her regular series. Overall it was an ok collection but not necessary to read to keep up with the story line.

Harley Quinn is up to her old tricks as usual, but here she teams up with various other comics characters as she does so. Although it lacks a volume number, this book is technically part of the New 52 continuity and it's helpful to have read that line first. All of the stories in this volume were good, with the exception of the very last one, which didn't have much by way of plot and had terrible art. Otherwise, however, this was a fun volume. In a particularly interesting twist, one of Harley's adventures involves meeting herself -- the Bombshells version of herself, that is! Fans of the DC Universe and Harley Quinn in particular will get a kick out of this book. ( )

Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti's Harley's Little Black Book pairs Harley Quinn up with various other characters in the DC Universe for a series of zany tales drawn from the larger DC continuity. The stories involve Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Zatanna, the DC Bombshells, Superman, and Lobo, each with its own jokes and intertwined continuity. For example, the first three issues involve the London Legion of Superheros while the second three relate to mystical balls Harley Quinn steals from Superman. Half of the humor comes from Quinn being starstruck about the other heroes and the rest from the situations Conner and Palmiotti dreamed up for them. The Superman story plays with a great deal of the late Silver Age stories, with art by Neal Adams and Conner and Palmiotti offering "apologies to Denny O'Neil. And yes, you too, Neal Adams." Some of the jokes reference the then-current 2016 primaries, a joke at the expense of Dan DiDio, the co–publisher of DC Comics, and a sly reference to Han Solo. My only complaint is about Simon Bisley's art in the Lobo story. While it evokes that of magazines like 2000 A.D. from the 1980s (as befitting a character like Lobo), it's jarringly different than anything in the other Harley Quinn stories. With that said, this is further proof of Conner and Palmiotti's inventiveness during their stewardship of Harley Quinn. ( )

I’m admittedly a Harley fan. I know her mental health isn’t perfect and she makes ethically questionable choices (and I’m being nice with both of those descriptions) but I love that she embraces who she is with no apologies. She may not be one of the best role models but she’s a strong woman who stands up for herself and others albeit in a tendency that could be morally and legally questionable – but at least she does it!

In this desperate to be politically correct yet still offending everyone world I desperately enjoy Harley because she is completely NOT politically correct, NOT even trying hard to be, NOT caring who she offends and I LOVE IT. It’s my escape from the social justice warriors, feminist warriors, and every other warrior currently gathering in the US like a political tornado cause you just don’t see that same level of epic infighting about EVERYTHING anywhere else on the planet. Harley lets us just breathe for a bit.

These stories are all great ones to have and read many times over. I wish they would make a series on Netflix or something based on these stories. You have to admire her spunk and devil may care attitude, or complete lack of respect depending on your POV, when it comes to how she interacts with the ‘good’ guys like Wonder Woman. You can’t take anything away from Wonder Woman, my daughters love her, but there also has to be a place in this world for Harley because not everyone can be a WW – we need the opposite too just to keep things interesting. Her messing around with the lantern rings had me shaking my head and laughing – cause you know, only Harley. Harley trying to be good in her own way but never quite pulling it off.

Along with some well told stories thankfully the artwork measures up. You get an insurgence of color, detail, activity, and emotion swirling together to bring the battles to life as if these were playing out before you and Harley becomes even more outrageous and impressive than she already was designed to be.

This series was just another win in my Why I love Harley column. ( )

Woo! Harley gets to have a ton and a half of team ups with all sorts of different people in this TPB!

It goes from the awesome team up with Wonder Woman, to a very cool sorta time travel-ish team up with herself in the DC Bombshells universe, to the absurd but awesome team up with Lobo (lots of bootie jokes on both sides, did Gail Simone write this one, no, shucks).

There was also one with Harley vs. Green Lantern (Hal this time), and one with Zatanna and Harley as spirits, also a really weird one with her and Superman too (which Supes though, that's the question that rang through my mind the whole time).

I know that comic books these days are supposed to be all broody and 'mean something' or whatever, but I say balderdash to that. What Conner and Palmiotti have done with Harley Quinn is awesomely amazing entertainment that keeps me cracking up. (But, I need more Poison Ivy too please!)

I was given this ARC by Netgalley on behalf of DC Entertainment. ( )
