The deadly hunt continues as the hunters become the hunted ...

Five days ago North Korea detonated three nuclear warheads over the United States, triggering an electromagnetic pulse that crippled the country. A second attack destroyed the nerve center of America in a nuclear blast that flattened the nation's capital. As the United States descends into chaos, the survivors must decide how far they will go to save the ones they love.

Police Chief Marcus Colton has struggled to maintain order in the isolated mountain town of Estes Park, Colorado, with the help of expert tracker Raven Spears and stranded pilot Major Nathan Sardetti. Together, they fought the evil terrorizing the town, but new threats are rising and old rivalries are coming to a head.

Charlize Montgomery, newly promoted to Secretary of Defense, is caught between loyalty to her country and love for her son, Ty. When the Marines sent to find Ty in Colorado discover a scene of unspeakable carnage, the straightforward rescue mission turns into a deadly chase.

Trackers 2 keeps the excitement coming!

As the battle for survival continues, enemies and hero's quickly raise their heads. The fight to rescue victims is a thundering, heart racing read. Although progress is made, the survivors are still in deep trouble. I can't wait for #3! ( )

In this sequel, Ty really stood out for me. He’s a kid in a wheelchair being held captive by the leader of white supremacist group lead by General Fenix. His mom, who is somewhere on the east coast, is a Senator and Fenix wants to use Ty to get much needed supplies plus weapons. Ty shows great courage in this book and he’s the character that stands out to me.

Of course Raven Spears and his dog Creek still steal the show. In Book 1, there was a serial killer to hunt down. Having helped out with that, Nathan Sardetti can now rely on Raven to help him rescue Ty and possibly kill Fenix. They make a really good team.

Martha is one of the many refugees that end up in Estes Park. She’s a doctor but she’s also pretty banged up herself. I really liked this minor story line because it brought up a lot of great points about such a calamity. Can Estes Park afford to take in refugees? They have very limited medical supplies and food. Winter is coming. If the refugees don’t bring valuable skills or supplies, should Estes Park take them in? Very realistic to have these tough questions come up.

Meanwhile, over on the east coast, President Diego and what’s left of the government have come to terms with the fact that much of the chain of command is gone. Now Senator Charlize Montgomery, Ty’s mom, has been made Secretary of Defense. Her body guard, Big Al, continues to be a pillar of strength as she gets further along in recovering from her severe injuries sustained in Book 1.

The ladies still have rather limited roles in this series and that surprises me. Having enjoyed the Hell Divers series, I really hoped the ladies would break out of their shells here in Book 2 of this series. Charlize can be excused because of her injuries. I did hope that Raven’s sister Sandra, who is a competent nurse at the Estes Park hospital, would have something bigger to do. Mayor Andrews of Estes Park doesn’t seem to fully grasp how tough their situation is. Police chief Colton has one female officer on staff, Lindsey Plymouth, but she doesn’t get much page time in this story.

Once again, I loved hating on Fenix. He’s crafty and has the luck of the devil himself! He poses a big threat to Estes Park but he’s not going to be taken down easy!

I was pretty sad to have to say goodbye to one of my favorite characters. The action was well mixed with quieter moments. I love seeing how Raven’s character is growing, becoming more confident and trusted by the people of Estes Park. 4.5/5 stars.

The Narration: Bronson Pinchot continues to do well for this series. His female voices are feminine and he has pretty good little kid voices. I really liked his voice for Ty. His voice for President Diego is still a touch over done for me but I can live with it. Pinchot’s pacing is good and there’s no technical issues with this recording. 4.75/5 stars. ( )

One of the best series of 2017!

I absolutely love this Trackers Series. It has everything you want and more in a book. If you like Post-apocalyptic thrillers, then you'll definitely want to read this one. ( )

I thoroughly enjoyed 'Trackers 2: The Hunted' and found it faster moving than the first book in the series.

SPOILERS: An elite Marine squad learns that the new Secretary of Defense's son, Ty, is still alive but has been kidnapped by others. In pursuit, the squad is ambushed and unable to free the child. Raven and Nathan had set out on their own to reach Ty's summer camp location and come upon a gravely wounded Marine lieutenant and several dead Marines. He informs the two that his team searched the camp and learned that Ty had survived but was abducted with several other kids by a para-military group of Skinheads; they ambushed and killed his team, but he remembers seeing Nathan's nephew and other kids held as prisoners by the Skinheads.

Meanwhile, politics rears its ugly head and internal bickering begins within the town leadership of Estes Park, Colorado. Unbeknownst to them, a gang of known thugs were planning to attack the town and steal all their food and supplies.

The head Skinhead, who calls himself the General, learns of Ty's identity and sends a ransom video to his mother. He has itemized his demands and gives her 24-hours in exchange for her son. Raven and Nathan begin to track the enemy to his stronghold in hopes to rescue the nephew and get some revenge for the Marine squad.

This book is filled with non-stop action and gives readers a potentially strong preview of what the world might be like after an EMP attack. And it's only been less than a week. This book, too, can be a stand-alone, but it would be better to read the series in order to understand the relationships and history.

I've already purchased book 3 and will start it when finished here. I strongly recommend this series for a fresh look at the apocalypse without zombies. Well done Mr. Smith!

My original The Hunted audiobook review and many others can be found at Audiobook Reviewer.

Fresh from having saved the town and their families from serial killers in the small town of Estes Park, Raven and Nathan find themselves on the move to find Nathan’s handicapped nephew, Ty. Still plagued by radiation, thugs on the road and other dangers, both head off to Ty’s last known location. While the US is recovering from the devastating EMP attack, others are ready to take advantage of the chaos.

Ty’s mother, the new Secretary of Defense is trying to find the last North Korean sub and also to save the rest of the US and her son from the newest homegrown terrorist – General Phoenix. Together, Raven and Nathan hunt down General Phoenix and set into motion a deadly and a fight to the death.

Action packed, this second in the Trackers series is mesmerizing. Nicholas Sansbury Smith has a gift for blending fact with fiction and creating a horrifying story. A story that will keep one up for nights because the monsters he creates are people we very well may know in real life! People who make headlines daily but who fail because there is no chaos – yet!

I have had the pleasure of enjoying several of Smiths books, this series, however, is far more frightening than any of his others. He knows how to take terror and grow it, cultivating it until his readers cannot stop listening to his books – they know his horror can happen!

Well written with a shocking twist that will leave you gasping – I had to wait a couple of days to write this review because I was in shock and mostly angry at Smith! I won’t say anymore but like life, a writer can be so unfair!

Once again Bronson Pinchot owns this book! His talent of presenting each character with a voice that one can only love or hate; he nails each one perfectly! I hate the voices of the President and General Phoenix – they are grating and “holier than thou” type voices thus gearing the audience to hate the men and appropriately so. While Raven, Nathan and Chief Colton are solid husky voices that demonstrates strength and stability – you cannot help but feel a strong connection to them and grow to love them.

Don't miss out on this awesome series.

There were no issues with the quality or production of this audiobook.
