A DAY AT THE PUMPKIN PATCH is a book that brings students along on a class field trip to a pumpkin patch. The authors try to make this a book that would be interesting to students, but there is too much text and not enough pictures for students to really enjoy this book. There are a lot of pumpkin patch books out there for kids to read. Many of the books include lots of pictures and simple text. This book includes the same information, but the text is more challenging for a young reader to decode. However, the concept of this book is interesting. I like how the authors take the readers on a field trip to a pumpkin patch. If a class were learning about pumpkins but was unable to go to a pumpkin farm, this book could help show what a pumpkin farm is like. Overall, I would not use this book in my class, but I would put it in my classroom library. ( )

Then it talks about what you can do and talk about after the field trip is over.
