![]() Ninguno Actualmente no hay Conversaciones sobre este libro. Published in 1955, this history is a careful document, trying to minimize the unrestricted submarine warfare waged by the Kreigsmarine in 1940 -45. The prose is clear, and established several of the memes for German naval writers about WWII. There's an interesting "Let's blame Hitler" tone. The book hits the high points, and encouraged Bekker to continue his writing career. 3557. Defeat at Sea: The Struggle and Eventual Destruction of the German Navy, 1939-1945, by C. D. Bekker (read 13 Mar 2002) I picked up this book for a nickel or a dime at a rummage sale and so thought since I had it I should read it. It is a 1953 book by a former German naval officer, and tells of the sea war from the German perspective, but is not designed for one interested in the history of the war. It had good parts, but one wonders if the men serving in German submarines were actually as eager to go to sea as the author sets out. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
This is the story of the German Navy during 1939-1945.Inadequately prepared for the Second World War, the navy led a bitter struggle on all seas, and in the end was subjected to an overwhelming defeat. More than 120,000 lives were lost, including many individuals whose firsthand accounts make up this gripping and detailed documentary report; they are indispensable if the spirit of that era and the resulting events, as well as the willingness to take action and the courage to sacrifice these men, are to be fully understood?Richly illustrated throughout, former WWII German naval officer Hans Dieter Berenbrok first published this book in German in 1953, under the pseudonym Cajus Bekker and the title Kampf und Untergang der Kriegsmarine. Ein Dokumentarbericht in Wort und Bild. It draws on a vast collection of military records, private archives, and countless personal interviews. It was subsequently published in English in 1955.
