The line between virtual and reality is about to EVAPORATE.

In a world where skycams follow your every move and the details of your life are uploaded each hour, Sofi knows that her eyes are the only caring ones watching her brother, Shilo.

As an online gamer, she works behind the scenes to protect Shilo as he competes in a mix of real and virtual blood sport. But when a bomb destroys the gaming arena, she is helpless to rescue himâ??and certain that his disappearance was no accident. Despite all the evidence of Shilo's death, Sofi's nightmares tell her he is still alive. Could the dreams be truer than what everyone else claims?

For Miguelâ??a charming young playboy from Earthâ??the games are of a different sort. As Ambassador to the Delonese, his career has been built on trading secrets. In the aftermath of the bombing, he fears he has lost Sofi forever, even as he wonders if she is really who she seems. Now he's a target for blackmail. The game is simple: help the blackmailers or lose more than anyone can fathomâ??or than Earth can afford.

Step into a universe of diverse characters, alien invasions, and high-stakes video gaming. Because when technology reigns, nothing is as true as it seemsâ??and fantasy can become reality after all.

Praise for The Evaporation of Sofi Snow:

"A fun, fast-paced, geekfest of an adventure that will appeal to fans of Blade Runner and The Hunger Games."â??Smith Publicity

"A smart, intriguing adventure of high-tech futuristic gaming. Mary Weber takes readers on an intergalactic journey intertwined with complicated family issues, politics, loyalty, secrets and betrayal."â??Wendy Higgins, New York Times bestselling author

Holy cow this was so good!! I'm not too into aliens and space but Mary Weber made this a book for everyone! I'm excited to see what the next book brings, because of course, this left us with a cliffhanger!

I received a copy of this book for free. I was not required to post a positive review and the views and opinions expressed are my own. ( )

Another epic story from Mary Weber, The Evaporation of Sofi Snow is a sci-fi adventure right from the start. With an interesting and diverse cast of characters and plenty of twists and turns, the story unfolds with addicting drama, action, and suspense—I flew through the pages of this book as fast as I could (and that cliffhanger didn’t help!). And within the science-fiction setting, Weber adds elements of real-world issues and relevant themes. All in all, The Evaporation of Sofi Snow is an excellent read—I recommend it to fans of science fiction (and of Mary Weber’s books) and cannot wait to see where this series goes next.

Thanks to BookLook Bloggers, I received a complimentary copy of The Evaporation of Sofi Snow and the opportunity to provide an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review, and all the opinions I have expressed are my own. ( )

As much as I love the Storm Siren series - this is even better. Crazy cliffhanger, and intense sci-fi that just kept me enthralled. ( )

Mary Weber’s THE EVAPORATION OF SOFI SNOW follows the titular character as she navigates more challenges than any one teen girl should. Sofi’s father has died. Her mother is wedded to the company she built and runs. Oh, and aliens have brought their planet into Earth’s orbit, and they, the Delonese, have brought many positive things with them—but there’s still suspicion about what they REALLY want from the people of Earth.

Sofi and her younger brother are the key components to a gaming team that is involved in Earth’s Fan Fight games—a high-tech competition in which teams compete in challenges that sound like different levels in a video game. When things go wrong in the midst of the games, the powers that be say that Shilo has died, but Sofi is convinced that the Delonese have taken him to their planet. With the help of her former boyfriend, the attractive and politically savvy Miguel, Sofi sets out to rescue her brother amid all sorts of other plot twists and turns.

An engrossing plot and fascinating technology propel THE EVAPORATION OF SOFI SNOW. The Fan Fight games sound amazing, Sofi’s adventures as she escapes various situations kept me flipping the pages, and other than occasional political explanations, the action is non-stop.

Sofi is a fantastic character—a great blend of smarts, sass, and sensitivity—and I suspect we’ll see more of her since Sofi’s story seems to have a lot more to it. (Hooray!) My only complaints about the book are the lack of character development beyond the exquisite care given to Sofi, and some of the explanations for other characters’ actions didn’t quite ring true. That said, those imperfections are overshadowed by Mary Weber’s ability to write good action sequences, and her aptitude with world building. And the awesomeness of Sofi Snow, of course.

My thanks to YA Books Central and the publisher for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review. ( )

I found " The Evaporation of Sofi Snow" by Mary Weber a bit difficult to get into at first but once I did I was not able to put it down. Sofi is an avid online gamer who supports her younger brother, Shilo, in a mix of virtual and real blood sport that takes place on Earth. Humanity is living with the new reality of the presence of the Delonese ice-planet that arrived eleven years ago. After Sofi's brother is presumed dead after a bomb blast during the competition, Sofi is the only one who believes he is alive. Against all odds, Sofi decides to try to stage a rescue.
As I said, the book was a bit hard to get into at first but it picks up very quickly. I found myself immersed in Sofi's world. This is a promising new series.
I received a copy of this book from Thomas Nelson via Netgalley for free in exchange for an honest review. ( )
