Very cute and a really quick, light read. I think I prefered [b:Courage to Soar: A Body in Motion, A Life in Balance|31847558|Courage to Soar A Body in Motion, A Life in Balance|Simone Biles|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1473611232s/31847558.jpg|52516411] because it got into a little more detail about training and the process of becoming an Olympic athlete, but this was still an enthusiastic and sweet story. In this autobiography, the book begins with explaining gymnast/ Olympic gold medalist Laurie Hernandez's background. The book then begins to explain how and why Laurie started gymnastics. She then talks about how her coaches thought she was gifted and better than anyone else in class, and decided to jump to conclusions and put her in an advanced group with girls much older than her. By the time she was in third grade, her parents sent her down to Karolyi camp in Texas for months at a time where she was coached the the world renowned coaches, Marta and Bela Karolyi. she'd spent 6 to 7 hours a day training and had become an elite level gymnast at age 13. It was really no secret she would make it to the Rio games. The book ends with Laurie explaining her experiences in Rio, as well as being the youngest winner of dancing the the stars.

For the most part, I did enjoy reading this book. It was interesting seeing the world and different situations through someone who has been successful their entire life's perspective. I gave this book the rating that i did because 60% of the time, it made you want to keep turning the page although you already knew that she made it to the Olympics and won a gold medal. Although, some parts of the book were almost so cliche and stereotypical, it made the book slightly less enjoyable. It was almost as if i could have closed my eyes and imagined what her life would have been like and it wouldn't be any different than what was in the book. Then again, it isn't quite fair for me to judge the level of alluring factor of her life, because after all, it is non fiction.
